Per an open letter from Steven Jobs to all iPhone users, “We have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned”
This is in response to the many irate iPhone customers who bought their phone at $599. The price was just lowered to $399, a $200 price drop after just 2 months of being on sale.
Web sites and online forums were quickly inundated with messages from irate iPhone buyers, some of whom felt that they had been punished for their early support.
“Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these,” Jobs said.
Apple also has a policy to refund the difference to customers who bought a product within 14 days of a price drop.
Although some reports suggest iPhone sales have been disappointing, Apple has gotten strong reviews for the touch-screen devices, which combine Internet, telephone and iPod-like music and video play.
