Keiko, the black kitty

Keiko, aka Babycakes

We have rescued an adorable, friendly, curious young cat that we have named Keiko (also know as Babycakes). We are looking for a very good forever home for this very special girl. She is cute as a button and curious and loving and just a joy to have around. I wish we could keep her! But there has been another black cat that has been coming and eating at night on our porch and now, during the very cold weather, the cat has been staying in our shelter with a heated floor. She (?) is extremely skittish and I will have to trap her to bring her in. And she will take some work to get used to humans. Keiko is completely ready for her forever home!

We are going through people we know who might know of a good home for her. We want to make sure it is a good, stable, loving home and people who are willing to be her forever family. As always though. we will take her, or any of the cats we have adopted out, back into our home, no questions asked, at any time.

Keiko needs to have a home where she gets a lot of attention. She loves people and purrs up a storm and runs around having fun and is a joy. She is the most adorable kitty and we wanted to keep her so badly but realized that we wanted her because she was so sweet and cute and curious, not because it was best for her or for the other cats. So is time to find a forever home for her where she can get the attention she deserves.

She does not have problems with any of our cats (although they would rather she wasn’t here). I think she would do very well with other cats, and even is curious about our dog and if a dog was cat-friendly I think they would do OK together.

Keiko’s history with us

We rescued an adorable black young cat that had been showing up on our porch eating our food and drinking our water and hanging out all night long, during the very cold weather.

We had to trap her and she was very scared at first but within a day she was loving being inside. We took her into our vet to get her tested for FIV/FeLV and she is negative for both. She also got her first boosters and her rabies shot.  Then after about 3 weeks, we took her to the Spay/Neuter clinic for her 2nd boosters and to get spayed. She did great and after about a week and a half, she was able to go out into the rest of the house and meet our other cats.

She was really interested in our cats, but since they were all rescues at different times, it took them a while to form their pack and learn each other. And now that they have, they don’t want anyone coming in and taking attention away from them. And she is a young cat and loves to play so she wants to play with someone but they aren’t interested and just avoid her and get nervous when she is around. And we have to try to give enough attention to her and to the other cats. And my cat, who has claimed me for her human is having a hard time with her since she didn’t even like sharing me with the other cats.
